New project, cheap and cheerful.

I'd been toying with the idea of getting a hardtail with discs recently, but hadn't really decided on what would be the best option. I was scanning Ebay for bargains and came across a 2007 Genesis Altitude 2.0 frame. I read a few reviews and realised it might be absolutely perfect for what I'd want. A steel frame with modernish geometry (in that I can run forks wit more than 80mm of travel!) and disc only so I'm not tempted to go back to my Vs or Maguras. I decided to make a cheeky bid and won the frame for £35! A bargain especially as it came with the headset and BB.

I knew it wouldn't be perfect for that price and when I picked it up there was a fair bit of chain suck and chips/scuffs to the paint but there are no dents or cracks. The colour is lovely though and I reckon with a bit of T-Cut it'll shine up nicely. My plan is to build it up asap and then ride it. If I like it I'll think about a respray but I'm going to see if I can use parts I've already got and limit the budget to about £100 for anything else I need to buy.

Here are some pictures, hopefully I'll be building quicker than I usually do!

If anyone knows the size of front mech and seatpost needed I'd be very grateful thanks!

£35 for a decent Reynolds 853 frame what a bargain!!

Not sure it helps but I have a 2010 latitude which (I think) replaced the Altitude and that takes 27.2 post with 30mm collar. Not the most common seat clamp size, ended up replacing the poor quality standard one with one by azonic

Good luck with the build, I love my Genesis and I have the cheaper 520 latitude
