Hey guys,

This is my new project for the autumn, it’s in good enough condition to put pedals on and just ride but I’m going to strip it and rebuild anyway.

Plans are to get replacement decals from Gil at Retrodecals.com, new parts include:

Pedals - RaceFace Chester’s in black
Grips - ODI Yeti Hardcore lock-ons

I have set of XT SL-M770 shifters in black to I might swap out as I prefer black shifters.

I’ve not had a Turner before, can anyone confirm if this model?

Now confirmed as 2002 XCE (closest I’ll get to ownership of anything similar to a Burner).

Overall it appears to have had little use, one owner and as currently with some Diamondback platform pedals, only cost me £275!

Updates to follow, Tim

Stripped and ready to clean and polish.

Was a lovingly put together bike, most of the grease was still fresh looking and all came apart easily.

Couple of bits have arrived, the original RaceFace stem was 100mm c2c, wanted slightly less reach so sourced a very nice order 80mm version from eBay along with a new HOPE seat QR in 31.8 (annoyingly I have a spare 34.9 version, always the way).

Just waiting on Gil to deliver the new decals, it’s been hard leaving it in bits but I know I’ll do a much better job of applying the new decals if she’s stilll frame only.

New bits:

Yep def an XCE and not Burner im afraid to say, not sure of the year thou but the serial number should shed some light on that im pretty sure

Very nice, lovely frames. I'd put it slightly later than 1998 if I'm honest, 2002 or thereabouts. The RFX had solid linkages, as above I'd go with it being an xce.

Looks like you hit the nail on the head, shall amend my title.
