I put a cheeky little ebay bit in for a '93 Hahanna, not expecting to win, bit I did!

Thinking winter commuter, ss perhaps. Maybe 1x7.

I don't have it but MuddyPaws (AKA Dad to me) picked it up for me last night, and sent through these pics.

The ad sait it was '30 inches from the ground, with 20 inch wheels'. Looks more like a 19" to me.

Managed to do a bit of work on the Kona at last, and she's running rather well on my commute. Here are some quick snaps.

I had some parts kicking about, so it's only cost me about £45 all in :D

Looks tidy 8)

I appreciate that some folk know nothing about what to look for in a bike , but I will never for the life of me understand why somebody spends more on a rubbish BSO at a supermarket when they could land something like this :)

oooh lovely. BITD my (ex) Mrs had one of those and I had the same year's Fire Mountain (same frame) Lovely bike. Hers was a 14 incher and handled like a BMX. My FM was fitted with a Spesh Furure shock until some barmpot ran me over and the fork got replaced with an RC35. Great match for the bike. You've a good one there - light too I'll wager.

I've got a 14" one of these I am going to build for my lad.

Can you post up some close up pics of the Dog Collar mod?

I am still torn as to whether I have an new guide added and a fresh powder coat or keep the original (and slightly faded red) paintwork and use this mod for V's.

My lads is going to be an STX/LX/DX mix with a set of Z3's up front.

Cost me about £50 so far to get everything together (including the original bike) so whatever I do it will still be cheaper than anything new with a half decent spec.

Carl.

you'll have a hard time with the dog collar on a 14" Carlos. The missus has a 16" and i think you can get away with no mod at all on anything bigger, but the 16 and more so the 14 are a pain..

A discussion i had with Anthony...

It is possible to use the canti-guide as a V-stop, but as you've found it doesn't work so well on a size 16. It works on a size 19, but on the small sizes there isn't enough distance between the guide and the noodle and the short length of outer is too stiff and overcomes the spring in the LH brake arm.

There are two potential solutions. One is to use Nokon cable, where you don't use a noodle and the outer is made up of a string of aluminium pieces that is much more flexible than conventional outer. The only problem being that it's ludicrously expensive, unless you want to use it for other purposes as well.

The other is to buy one of these (your LBS may stock them)

I think the Hahanna has a 31.8 top tube, but I suggest you check first. Still a bit pricey, but at least you ought to be able to get most if not all of that back if you sell the Kona part.

would also be interested if you have modded it in some way Bryan
