Hi folks. New here (1st post actually).

I’ve acquired my dads old GT Zaskar LE.

Think he purchased the frame in 1998. He became ill about 8 years after purchasing it. Hasn’t been ridden for 17 years.

16” frame. All Shimano Lx. Pace carbon forks. Mavic X517 sup rims built by Dave Hinde. Brooks titanium saddle.

Going to strip it. Clean and polish the frame. New sticker set. Might put drop bars on if I can figure out what gears work with what best road/ gravel levers.

Will probably have lots of questions to ask . Sorry in advance.

That looks really great as it is. Might be worth doing the minimum to get it rideable then assess what you think you might improve on?

It’s already rideable (just need to pump the tires up). Unbelievably the brakes and gears all still work fine. Just needs a good clean.

Yes that’s a 98 LE.

I had one new in 1998 with that decal colour.

I’m still hunting a nice one down to recreate my old build from back in the day

Can original decals/stickers still be purchased. Seen em on eBay, but I would assume there a bit crap ?.

Welcome mate you get advice on here I would keep it as original as possible the decals look good except the rims look awful they look better on mine haha

Yes there are various people who do them. However they aren’t 100% correct.

If your decals are decent I’d certainly keep them.

There really nice rims barely any ware.
