Mondeos are expensive to fix and they go wrong, often

Steering racks

rear callipers

steering pumps

There are more faults than that! Mines for sale at the mo and i've replaced almost everything on it! That said i'd not hesitate to have another. Quick, handle well for a barge (nurburg lap did scrub a new set of Goodyear F1's  ) and importantly swallow bikes whole. Volvo's the smart choice though i'd say!

Mondeo estate.

x2

racked up 180K in mine with no problems.

yours must have been special then as the dual mass fly wheel would rattled itself apart at 120,000 and taken out the clutch and starter motor along for the ride...

Mine had 370,000 by the time I finished with it and it was on it 3rd flywheel, but original engine and turbo

I deliberately didnt change the oil for 18 months just to try and kill it.

It finally diedn at 420,000 when somebody crashed into it.

I have an 2001 BMW 320 Diesel that's about to be for sale - in Southampton, England

Drop me a note if you want details. I loved it and wish I had it out here!

Ayrshire to Southampton would be a wee bit of a trek for a 320 I'm afraid!

:)

You could cycle down, drive back. What an adventure!

V impressed with Wutangled's Berlingo. Got 3 people, 2 bikes, 3 peoples worth of camping gear in (one of those people was Wu himself and his camping gear is equal to that of at least five people). Very comfortable in the back, not cramped at all. Loads of storage space, 'twas like the Millennium Falcon with storage every where.

Meant the inside

The outside looked like Postman Pat's van but painted white. He did have the XTR version, a must for any Retrobiker/

 I like the idea and put it to the wife once and she looked at me like I was an idiot. And I've been looking at A6s and S class mercs all day :o

Been quite impressed with my merc B170 so far, lots of space and you can flip the back seats down if you want the bikes in the back. Has a roomy boot for pram, not the prettiest but economical and cheap for a low milage second hand one.

I wanted the G but the wife pooh pooh-ed the idea

I have a mondeo estate st diesel. Lovely motor, no issues so far and is like a tardis. I took it camping last year with 3 adults, 2 children, a labrador, roof box and a trailer. The car was rammed but it drove and pulled as if it was empty. You can fit bike in without taking the wheels off as well. Struggle to do all that in a A4 or similar and Fords are cheaper to fix, always have been. Trevor.
