What lock should I buy? I have the triban 50SE Decathlon road bike. Love it as its my first bike ever, however bought a U LOCK but doesn't fit properly from a bracket as in way of bottle cage, so was advised to buy instead a very thick B'TWIN CB 7 with Key, Bike Lock - Black 9.5mm braided steel cable & I have just purchased a kryptonite 7ft lock cable & I have 2 basic B'TWIN SP 5 with Key, Bike Locks.
Is this suffice? No U LOCK just cable locks....I don't want to carry a heavy u lock around & don't want to scratch my brand new paintwork with that u lock & don't want to block my bottle cage, its the only place to to install it and no can do, according to decathlon workshop guys. Very helpful they were indeed.

Thanks guys

Don't use a braid - find a way to use a D lock.

The problem with braids is no matter how thick they are, you can simply nibble through them with a small pair of side cutters. To get through a D lock needs a lot more brute force from a sledgehammer, bottle jack, battery grinder or bolt croppers.

There are mini D locks out there, the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Mini gets excellent reviews. I use a Kryptonite Series 2 and the frame mount works well if you want to carry it on the frame. I just sling it in my backpack though.

Re: D lock

Well, Ive just bought today a kryptonite evolution series 4 STD from Halfords. It has 8/10 strength. And I can register my bike with that lock and get up to £1000 replacement if bike gets nicked. Anti Theft offer.
Is this any good this brand. I know Kryptonite is a very good brand but this particular one apart from new York one, is good?
Thanks for the reply by the way.
