New addition to my fledgling collection Lotus Sport XTR

Hi All

I just thought I would share a picture of the latest addition to my small collection (and according to my wife the last).

I spotted it on ebay and purchased it from a very nice chap in Southport. It currently has mostly Shimano DX components and over the next few months I will be replacing this with its original XTR M900 groupset.

The only exception would be the shifters as I have read M737/M738 STIs are a lot better the the M900 version and from a similar period.

Finally does anybody have any suggestions for suitable period platform pedals. Cheers

Re:

Very nice bike 8) This is mine ....

.... and although in the pic the pedals are Ritchey spds these days I run XT M737 spds or XT flats (with straps and clips) in keeping with the rest of the groupset. yagamuffin mentioned Tioga Surefoot and of course there's always good ole' DMR V8s 8)

Re: Lotus

I have one of these! And I have to recommend putting slicks on it as the gear ratio is very biased to top speed in the 21st gear!

Re:

After much searching on here and ebay, much bartering and exchanging of monies I have finally managed to get my Lotus XTR back to original spec.

Gone are to Shimano LX/DX components that some philistine put on and the bike now sports a full M900 groupset in good to excellent condition, and with a full set of new XTR cables the job was a gooden. The bike absolutely flies and rides like new.

The only things not M900 are the headset which is the original lotus one, the bottom bracket which didn't need touching and the chain as I couldn't get a CN-7401 chain for a reasonable price anywhere.

All that remains is some nice grips and period bar ends. On another note I'm mulling over a new car so the bike may be up for sale in the next month but I haven't decided yet

I just wanted to say a big thanks to all who help with the parts, Cheers
