Retro Newbie
Hi - assembling kit for a bike, a sort of super custom frame build version of this, my current favorite bike:
http://rjl.us/velo/trek830-1.htm
I recently 'decided I needed' to try some version of the Suntour combi levers on this new one (to save space, add coolness, etc.), but:
I know almost nothing about these, save the various photos and old catalog scans on the web (and than I need them!).
Searching the eb I found only one version for sale now or 'completed listings', so I pounced just in case. It's a CL-XD10 set in decent shape, with the shifters:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suntour-XCD-600 ... Sw8-tWXgSg
Can anyone tell me about the interchangeability of these, esp. using other model levers (hopefully my favourite, the LD-3600) on the brake lever mounts for this and other models?
Are some models better, more adaptable, etc? Any other options?
I'll be using friction shifting (of course) so would prefer one of the nicer-looking sturdier older models of shifter.
Since most of the photos seem to be here on RB, hoping to get some ideas, so thanks in advance!
