Retro Newbie
I bought this GT aluminum frame road bike awhile back and I'm stumped as to what model it is. I think it may be an edge model from what I've scene but I'm really not sure. Can anyone help? There are no identifiable markings on it other than GT stickers. It's a classic ride, I'm thinking early to mid 90's. Campagnolo hardware all around. 700c rims. Any help would be great!

thanks. Trying to confirm by finding some images of 1997 edge model. . . pain in the arsss. Mostly titanium and steel models. But 1997 edge sounds good to me!! Thanks again.

The internal cable routing would indicate possibly and Edge or Fury. But the year is not 97, has to be earlier. The 1997 models had carbon forks. 1994-96 had aluminum forks. If it was originally purchased as a complete bike it has to be a 1994 model and it would be a GT Strike with Campy Stratos. The Strike was the only GT model ever sold as a complete bike that was Campy equipped.

If it is a USA Built Edge frame it was bought as a frameset and built up with Campy. If it is an Edge frame the serial number would start GTE followed by a number with a max of seven digits.

Is the rear dropout stamped 6061 or 7005? 6061 indicates US built, 7005 made in Taiwan. The Edge was 6061 as was the Fury in 1994. All other models were 7005 and built in Taiwan until the ZR (Zaskar Road) series bikes were introduced in 1999.

Wow! The rear dropout is stamped 94gt0042. Derailer is Veloce. Shifters are Athena. Brakes are Record and the cranks are 170 Racing T. Was the aluminum finish original or was there paint at one time?
There is, what looks like a Q under the GT stamping.

ok, so the 94 in the serial means it's 1994. I got that. But your saying to be an EDGE it would also be stamped GTE. So were EDGE frames also stamped just GT? or should I be thinking Fury or Strike? and for the 0042 and the "Q" stamping, who knows. I may have some further research to do. If you come up with anything else let me know please. You've been a great help! Thanks!!

I've attached a photo of the only stamping I can find on the rear dropouts.
