NAD hifi equipment - tell me about them

Remember the 3020 and 3020e being plain jane but sounding very good by all accounts and their CD players of the time sounding nice too.
Wouldn't mind a 3020e for my study to go with my Audigy NX.

Carl.

to follow this on, i have the cassette deck 6220, picked it up for under 15 quid, but had all the wires cut off the back, so picked up the relevant audio cables and power cable and set to putting new ones in, and with only a unplug/plug back in the volume channel LED rack, all works a treat, and so surprised about the clear audio quality, my old tapes have never sounded so good.

I've got an integrated nad amp that I'll be shifting soon.

If you are interested I'll dig it out and give you the model number etc.

Looking at £25 posted.

Chris.

I used to have a NAD 5120 which was pretty good seeing as I got it for about £50 new BITD.

Unfortunately it got smashed to smithereens when a speaker fell on it in the 2002 earthquake  . I had to wait until I bought my Technics that I still have now to play vinyl again.

Back in the late '80s, I wanted a 3020e so badly...

All I could afford was a dogshit Pioneer amp from Hyper-Fi... :(

having worked with some hideously expensive stuff, I cant find any of this low end equipment exciting any more.

To make a proper noise, you need to find some amps/ speakers/ CD players that retailed for around £600 each when new and can be bought for less than a new acoustic solutions shitebox form Argos.

I ran a shop selling the stuff, worked for manufacturers of the stuff and even built prototypes dammit!

I am a true Hifi GEEK!

Hey, LGF... Just out of interest do you remember a magazine called "Hi-Fi Review"? I used to buy it when I was about 16 or 17 (1988/89) and the only gear that they had any time for was from the not-so-well-known British brands: Linn, Naim, Roksan, Arcam, Rega...

The only stuff that they recommended and that I could afford to buy were some Sennheiser HD480 headphones and a Linn Basik MM cartridge...

I dont remember hifi review - pocket money at 15 was scarse and I was buying 'street machine' at the time.

Unfortunately the magazines were a business and advertising led - the manufacturers with the biggest advertising budgets would get the best reviews.
