My stanchions are different colours

Its not wear at least i dont think so,but ive no idea why theyre different.Theys both identical in every other way.
different models?


Im doing a seal change at present and its the lighter of the two that was leaking, Im hoping its not major wear and the other one was replaced :shock: .Though thats very unlikely as the colour is uniform on the lighter on
I'd hate to find it still leaks after ive put new seals in
And i dont recall Z2 stanchions being as dark as the other.Could be wrong of course
Any thoughts jump to mind :?

Variation in anodizing process... My 2006 Rock Shox Reba WC look different shades too.

Yeah,,ive noticed the huge numbers of mismatched stanchions on sus forks these days

well OK.I can see that happening if its minor shade differences,but these are like black and white in their difference :?
Must be from different years then

It was the lighter of the 2 that was leaking.I had some crazy notion that is was thinner somehow and a seal change wouldnt change things,it would still leak.
I'll never know till i get them fitted
