hi.
Ive got some wheels for you. Period correct, more or less. Exage hubs to araya rims, quick release. With a 7 speed cassette. May not run perfect true but solid and good to use as is. I will put a foto on over the weekend.
Cost? None.
Im not far from you and often work in bradford, hfx, hudds, skipton etc , so can meet you up.
Cheers.

Well this has moved on a bit now so here is the bike just about finished. I need to find replacement parts for the u-brake and I have a set of Onza bar end that may go on it. Its now looking like a usable bike again.

A massive thanks to marc two tone for sorting me out with the wheels. 8)

Nice work fella.
I think that has come together quite nicely. Nice wheels too 8)
I wouldn't worry about the snobs. While it's nice to now own the high end stuff, BITD most of us could only dream of that while we tooled around having a stack of fun on the 'cheap crap'.
Nostalgia biking has a lot to commend it. :D

nice one. that has come together very well 8) almost nos looking.

it's great to see a bike rescued from near crushing to a good useable one.

reet cheered me up that :)

That is looking very, very nice. The sort of thing that was the object of desire for a 13 year old saving for his first MTB (me).
How did you get on with setting up the shifters with the 7's block (Trail was an 18 speed group), do they have a hidden 7th click (like the 7's have a hidden 8th click)? or are they running in friction mode?

Carl.

Nice job. Great to see another decent bike brought back from the dead. It's clearly given you a lot of fun & frustration in equal doses and shown the generosity of members such as Marc two tone. :D :D :D

This is what this site is about just as much as the top end Kona/Klein etc loadsamoney restorations.

Thanks all I really didn't expect such a positive response for the old girl, I`m very happy how it turn out as well. I have a real soft spot for what was ordinary, and that's now not cool enough to be proper retro, old cars (mk1 fiesta, mk4 cortina) as well a old bikes.

drcarlos, the shifter will only move 6 sprockets try as I might no extra from them, but the index work spot on for the 6 clicks. The rear mech probably does have the travel to work on a 7 speed cassette though.

marc two tone, the wheels are my first attempt at truing wheels, not that they where that far off true, but it still took me a full day  using a home make stand. Not only do they look greaton the bike I have learnt a lot from them. Very big thanks.

Cheers Brian.
