Raleigh Mirage from 1989, pulled it out the tip like this, just need some wheels new cables, a clean and it will be ready for use over winter. It’s a bit ruff around the edged but on first inspection every thing looks good under all that grease and mud, no rust on the frame and the seat post came out of the frame first pull. :D

Its first retro MTB and it will accompany my 80`s Raleigh road bike quite nicely.

Pic here as I can work out how to get them up on this page.

And whats wrong with Raleigh?

So started to strip the frame, just the BB to remove and the stem, but it looks like the stem is not going to play nice. The bolt will not budge, I have filled the steerer tube with WD40 and we will see what happens tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Cheers Brian.

How long have you got ?

Not a big fan, had 3 in the 80s. All awful. Think they got their act
together at the top end in the 90s.

There not that bad, untainted nostalgic memories. I have always had a soft spot for them.

A result with the stem bolt. After the over nigh in WD40 the stem bolt come out after a tap or two with the hammer. I was a bit worried after reading all the horror stories on the web.

Now to start the cleaning.
