I have always had a liking for Alan frames and bought my first one about 3 years ago. It is an alloy Competition frame, I think about 1977. The second one I acquired was the Record Carbonio, I believe about 1986/7 then recently I bought an alloy cross frame and have just completed the build on that one.
Specs are as follows:
Alloy Competition:
Shimano 600 Arabesque apart from brakes which are the next generation Shimano 600.
Wheels are 36/36 Mavic 500 hubs and Campagnolo Record Pave rims fitted with 27mm Veloflex Vlaanderen tubs (these are fantastic by the way).
Record Carbonio:
Shimano 600 Tricolour apart from brakes which are single pivot Dura Ace calipers. I have also fitted a TA AXIX titanium BB to this one.
Wheels are 28/28 Mavic 500 hubs with Mavic Argent 10 rims and Veloflex Sprinter tubs. Very light but they don't feel as indestructible as the wheels on the alloy bike.
Cross:
This is a more eclectic mix of parts I had in the garage, but the brakes are quite interesting. A set of Weinmann cantis and levers. Wheels on this are Mavic 500 hubs again (you might have noticed I like Mavic hubs) with Open 4CD rims and Clement 28mm tyres.
Hope you like them.
