Praise where praise is due...popped into Cyclopedia this morning with a fork which I wanted to have the steerer reduced by 15mm (normally I have go myself, but this was a critical measurement) and shift a BB that was rigid.

They were stuffed with service work, no space left....you know the score...first sniff of sun and all the cob-webbed, havn't turned a wheel since last late September come out of the shed for a service....

....anyway, rather than..".come back next week" they did it on the spot....£11.50. And the BB was tough

Happy days

Probably glad to have something nice to touch :)

Have you used 'The Bike Shed' before, I used to live near it when it opened and though cramp where always chatty, even wanted me to come out for a night ride. A quick look and it's moved up the road a bit now on to Cathedral Road, up Pantcanna end. (was down wyndamm crescent)

Yes, probably....eaves-dropped on a few customers conversations whilst I waited....good grief...I thought I got it bad working retail wine.

Lady 'My pedals are creaking, I'v only had it a year, should be within warrenty...I want you to have a look at it, I mean its not even had much use...bla bla bla bla bla...'

Jeez....they are going to be cheap OE pedals sweetheart, what do you expect! (I was thinking)

A couple more like that...poor sods.

Bikeshed are nice chaps too...always really friendy and helpful.

i used to hate customers who came in with that sort of attitude of "do it now it cost me £100 last year iv'e used it once (read blitzed drive over 2000 miles) and now the gears slip sort it now warrenty"

the best one was a guy brought a trek madone the lowest spec one he got us to orderer it in then said he didn't want it then came back at the end of the sesson "id like to buy the madone so we sort the paper work out when "im not paying that for it i can get one boxed for £200 less online " so i say "and this one has a full one year warrenty and comes completely built up unlike the one online" so we end up selling it a £100 cheaper and think nothing of it when 11 months later he comes in and says "i want a new headset i want the hubs fully servicing and i want the cable set swapped out and the drive looking at" so i do an estimate for him and ring him up tell him the costs when i get told "im not paying for the headset, cableset or hub service thats warrenty and it runs out soon so you best do it" i said not a chance mate trek wont have that" he f's and blinds down the phone then comes down to the shop kicks off and tells us to phone trek we do to keep the pease and they say do one the guy leaves and says "he'll let us know about the sevice" we get a phone call from trek an hour later "this mans just phoned f'ing and blinding saying your shop staff are rude and that he's getting his soliciter involved" he came back picked his bike up and called us all c***s i hate people like that :x :x :x

Kin ell king that guy sounds like an arse . I had a lady years ago who bought a bike for her fat kid then kept coming in saying "it's got a flat tyre , he only rides it around the street" . She later said that he would bang into kerbs  well she got annoyed that it wasn't warranty so phoned the manufacturer up ; I get a call from them saying shes going to sue us . I phone a guy at the other store ( the guy I ran the store for had a few stores in nearby towns ) and Jody laughed , then told me to get her to go all the way over to his store and he will sort it out . A week or so later I had to call him for something and mentioned if he had sorted it all out , then he just laughs " yeah , I got her to come over and as soon as she walked in the door I told her to fook right off " . I believed him too as I've phoned him plenty of times and hes said " oh , I've got to go there's a prick of a customer here " and you can hear the guy at the desk in the background  He knew what he was doing but just didn't give a fook

What I hate are the warranty requests for inner tubes , " I bought this a week ago and now it's flat " . I feel such a fool having to try to explain the idea of containing air in a rubber tube and that things can puncture it at any point in time .

When I die I might have " sorry we can't warranty inner tubes " . " But I bought it yesterday !" on my tombstone

i hated inner tube warrenty people the best was a guy refused to buy new tyres for his 30 year old apollo (still on his original tyres) i fit new tubes as thats what he wanted he came in the next day and it was all are fault

But would these same people expect to have their car tyres warranted against punctures :?

The something for nothing, scam, steal, swindle, consumer society :x
