Not sure what you mean by “frame designed for other brake”. The brake blocks are on a similar position front and rear and the forks are definitely original as they are stamped with the same number as the frame.

Possibly Juvela meant that the bike would have had 27 x1&1/4 wheels originally and these are 700c? Not sure. There is a few mm difference in pad positioning between these rims and some of the short pull brakes of the era can't manage to adjust for 700c - just a guess

Pedals are Campagnolo Record with the external toe strap loops and chromed steel dust caps. Toe clips and straps are Christophe.

The pedal cages and toe clips are quite rusty. If I scrub them with white vinegar to remove the rust will it leave the remaining chrome behind? I would like to preserve as much of the original finish as possible.

The bars are Cinelli Campione Del Mundo and are 40 cm wide. There are two layers of the original cloth tape wound on to them.

The headset is in remarkable condition. It has a bit of superficial rust on the outside but internally looks perfect.

I’ve put my Park Tool CC-4.2 Chain Wear Indicator on the chain and it’s showing absolutely no wear!

I believe the chain is an Everest Serie Special chain with slotted inner and outer links. I’ve just got to give it a thorough clean and get rid of the rust on the outer plates as best as I can.

Why do cameras make a handlebar look so odd? That first pic is like some kind of ai goof yet stand there in person and the bar will look completely normal and in scale.

That’s just what happens if you use a wide angle and stand close.
