believe it or not, i haven't been on the trails for over 13 years now. yes, its embarrassing to admit :)
bought a lot of bike parts in the last 6 month and ~2 weeks ago i finally finished my first bike. first ever build all by myself! first bike ever ridden by me with suspension forks!!! :D
well, this sunday was the day to take it out for a serious ride. it super nice to be back on the hills surrounding vienna with a mtb!

its a 1999 marin indian fire trail in 17,5". got it on ebay US for ~30 euros :D
used lots of cheapo components because its supposed to be my beater bike. but after all the experiences i made building it up i'd rather beat myself than that bike
btw. parts to mention are the box v-brakes (really nice to set up, my first v-brakes ever :D ), the ea70 seatpost stem and bars, and the flite transalp (1998). rest is cheap.

I went for my first big (ish) ride in several years yesterday too :D
Did some 10 milers last week and yesterday did a 22 miler on the road (lots of monster hills..... )

Took me 90 minutes
Hobbled off bike at end
Today = sore ass

coolest thing about the ride was that i'm in way better shape then in the early 90ees. the ride took ~2hours and i could have done twice the time.

You're fitter (and maybe younger) than me then my friend
I'm 2 stone heavier than I was back then and the wrong side of 40....I have a long way to go to be as good as I was back in 1991
