I bought a bike minus the frame, included was these XTR pedals seized to a XTR chainset. After the usual Plus Gas treatment I rounded off the Shimano tool trying to remove it.
A motorcycle mechanic mate reckoned that if he dismantled the pedal and filed a flat on the axle he could remove it with a spanner. After grinding the axle he broke the LH crank arm giving it some welly.
I tried to cut my losses by buying a replacement XTR chainset on the bay. The seller said that he would ship to Spain at my cost, I won and paid and then he wouldn't. :x Some six months later I collected the chainset and used the LH arm to complete my build. I've run a couple of wanted adds here for the axle with no luck. About 10P of Copper Slip would have saved all of this. I did say don't ask.
