I keep seeing lots of very lovely bikes built up by British forum members
Nice bikes yes but not many mudguards amongst them :? .
I find this strange as we only ever get rain or snow[rain in summer/snow in winter

Could it be that m/guards are not retro? or is it that they spoil the look ?and only go on the bike after the photos are done

I dont do mudguards. Mud is all part of the MTB game.

I did have a Crud Catcher for a short period of time, but got sick of the scratches it created on the downtube :x

I'm going to be using my rockhopper as a commuter. Probably going to go for full mudguards. Currently trying to decide between plastic ones and nice shiny metal ones from velo orange.

I used a crud catcher and a lidl back mudguard on my last offroad bike I had in bristol. The rear helped to stop my brooks getting trashed by spray from the rear wheel.

If its a commuter bike, different kettle of fish.

I have an old 1994 Raleigh Scorpio roadbike that I used as my training steed BITD. Big old mud guards, wider the better TBH. Nothing worse than a wet arse on an 80 mile epic training ride

You could always get something like a Univega. A lot of them had crud catcher mounts fitted.
