Here it is finally finished. It's been powdercoated. Made a few sensible upgrades- mainly the brakes and 9 speed cassette, some modern wheels.
I've kept all the lovely suntour kit, hopefully it still looks retro. Tell me what you think of my first build as I'm still learning. Thanks for all the advice, really really helpful... I love the bike!

I'm after some muddy fox grips and netta gel seat, like the ones on the bike now but in better order or NOS...anyone?

you cant go wrong with a good powdercoat!

needs modern knobbly tyres to make it 'right' (although thats only my own personal opinion), I'm using Tioga Trail Rider things which are pretty good on/ off road.

bars - modern, decal-less and black as the current ones look a little uncomfortable.

That is gorgeous! I always wanted one of those BITD. Remember being impressed by a guy riding one at Alderley Edge when I was there with Boys Brigade. Told my folks I wanted a Mountain Bike for Christmas and said I wanted a Muddy Fox. Wasn't too happy when Father Christmas arrived with a Falcon!

I agree that it would look better with some proper mtb tyres, however I won't be taking it off road and decided on the slicks for that reason .A bit of function over form.

The bars, the origianals were ITM Italimubri polished alloy and engraved. They were shagged. Could not find any of these. The bars fitted at the mo' aren't quite the same shape, as the ends of the bars rise up where the orionals were a 2 inch rise then straight. I'm looking out for some bars of the same dimensions

Thanks for your feedback
