MTB frame builders in UK? I'd like a custom built frame.

I'm happy with my Burls ti frame, been using it for almost two years now. As Rekiborter says, it was basically a direct copy of the KHS, I just emailed him the dimensions and then popped down to see him one day to finalise everything. Can't fault the quality, and it was cheaper than most standard ti frames at the time.
He's based in Essex and has produced plenty of 29ers and single speeds, as well as a load of road bikes. He isn't a mountain biker himself, but will pretty much do what you want. All ti frames are built in Russia, he used to do brazed steel frames himself but I think might be stopping that now. Not sure what choice you'll have in tubing, not something I asked, but my frame is all fairly large diameter.

Kevin Winter in Durham. You wont find a fancy website but boy is he good. He repaired and added disc mounts to my Yo Eddy frame this year and built a gorgeous cyclocross frame for Nayfinesse. He's also built several bikes for local legend Derek Purdey which are still going strong 15 years on. He worked for Paul Donague for years and built Hardisty cycles team bikes for Jason McRoy amongst others. His work is stunning and I cant recommend him enough. You would also have plenty of change from your budget unless you go mad on frame finish- some of the frames hanging in his workshop are sublime
Dont bother him for the next few months though, he's busy building my dream frame
