heres how
2x old tyres
100x stainless steel dome head posi s/tappers at 10mm length
1x drill
1mm drill bit
i had a recent discusion with dspaul about ice tyres and this is what i have come up with,
i staggerd the screws to try and acheive cornering and straight line traction
going to use old tubes as a barrier between the screw heads and the tubes i am yet to try these so i will post the outcome asap,
thoughts please,
Lee

I tried this years ago but the screws generally pulled out with very little use... Probably just my poor engineering!! :D

mbuk did such a feature easily over 15yrs ago. the real ice tyres are massively reinforced & pretty heavy duty.

I would put double the number of screws in each tyre. Are you going to line the inside of the tyre with anything?

yeah didn'nt think there was enough  ah well back to the suppliers for more screws ,was thinking an old tube as a liner or ductape

Good project!

I would have gone for steel screws though - harder than S/S.

How about one of those tyre liner things to stop the screws poking into the tubes? you could fix it into the tyre with some of those sticky velcro pads.

keep us updated on how you get on!

:D
