Modern rear shocks in old frames

or cant you take off the fixing bracket and 'heckler' it? put on a new shock and bushes from the heckler, so then it will be like a heckler with the extra tube)

Hecklers have more travel and a longer shock which won't fit.

If you need new mounts, i'd recommend tftuned.com, they'll build mounts for any length you specify. Not the only people who'll do it, but I've found them to be a friendly bunch when I've dealt with them

saw this and thought of you! you could bolt in an eyelet (into the trunion thing) for the bolt that goes through your frame and shock (mount)
bargain too!

Thanks. :D

That's a bargain price, do you happen to know what travel it is?

I've had a better measure up.
My current shock is 6.75" (171mm) eye to eye with 1.75" (44mm) stroke. This gives me 3" of rear wheel travel.

I could take my pick of any current 165/38 mm shocks and it would fit and work fine, but I would drop to 65mm of wheel travel.

Fox used to do a 44mm stroke Float, forgot to bid on one on ebay at the weekend though. :(
