Now then...if I were to upgrade the OE Manitou Mars forks on my 2000 M2 Stumpjumper.....what make should I look out for.
What would I get that the Manitou don't offer.....I find them a little too bouncy and bobby (drawing from a wealth of suspension knowledge as you might tell).
Musts would be
1. V brake acceptable
2. Light weight
3. Look nice
4. 80mm travel....I'm guessing anything more will upset the geom. on the Stump?
5. Lock out
2nd hand budget of max £200.
Whatcha reckon?
Cheers
Carl
Fox F80 come to mind???
Oh yes...I'm about 210lb

I don't have any specific recommendations, but if you haven't seen this already, you might find this useful when it comes to getting a fork with a similar a-to-c as the original Manitou.

I wish Fox would do a similar summary for their forks, unfortunately you need to look at the tech info for each fork on their site for the tech drawings with all the measurements.

Slightly different...Magura Ronin, available as 80 or 110mm, but they aren't switchable between the two travel options, they are different forks. Nayfinesse has some on his Winter and seems happy. They'd be way under your budget too
