Modern fork for 2001 Cinder Cone

Retro Newbie
Can anyone recommend a good modern fork for my 2001 Cinder Cone build? I'm at the start of the project with just the frame right now so it's a blank canvas. I'm looking for something kind of up to date, post mount (or IS at a push) but I don't have a huge budget (maybe £150 absolute max). It'll be for regular XC riding so I don't want a downhill fork.

Cheers

Hi matey

Thanks for the recommendations. Unlike the 90 Cinder Cone, I'm not bothered about period correctness for this 01 Cone - that's why I had your Mag21's for the former.

I've been watching a number of these on good ol' fleebay (and some others besides) but can you give a relative newbie to MODERN suzzers a thumbnail comparison between the three you recommended? Don't need rafts of info, just a quick and dirty comparison.

Thanks M

Re:

Hi , just put a set of Fox float rl 80 on my 98 Cinder Cone and very happy :D nice and plush with lockout etc and a huge improvement in the steering and tracking .

Re:

All 3 are 32mm stantion forks (iirc) so track well.

The Fox is slightly older (I think) but there are newer ones!

If you go for a Fox RL 100 it can be set to 80mm if you prefer with an internal spacer. The RL 80 cannot be modded to 100mm.

Both the SID and Reba can be set to 100 or 80mm (again with internal spacers)

They are all nice forks, if you want lighter, the SID would be good, the Reba and Fox and probably more 'solid'.

I replaced a (28mm) SID world cup (on my Yeti ASR) with a Reba World cup and the difference was very noticeable :)
