Smoothing out the ride spoils the fun, in my opinion.

Larger tyres and full suspension allow you to ride over gnarly stuff that you otherwise would walk over thus increasing the amount of fun, in my opinion:P

PS 50-559

I have both and cx and road. All are fun. All are different for different reasons. Don't discount any without trying them. I only got a v brake bike 18 months ago. Now that's modern!

So wtf! Why do we need all these wheel sizes? In my day (when I were a lad) it was 26". Done. Its like cars today where you need a load of different variants to fit in with the market. What is wrong with keeping it simple?
Probably comes down to money in a very competitive market.

Have you tried a 29er?

No but i would love to as theyre seemingly better suited to the giants of which im a life member.

You should. See if you can guess which is which. Both 21".

Re:

I think most modern bikes are crap looking monstrosities.

I have very little interest in new designs and technologies in bikes.

I like old mountain bikes.

I have impeccable taste and enjoy a bicycle with a bit of individuality and charisma.

I am a retro bicyclist... I am very handsome too.

Owing to my tallboy proportions, my one certainly looks right, if that makes sense.

As opposed to a smaller wheeled and as a result, seemingly bigger framed bike.
Having said that, I do like the challenge of riding my rigid 26" bikes and they do get ridden more. I think I would lose the skills I've developed from riding them if I rode the 29er all the time. Certainly don't want that to happen.
