Minor Selbach mystery

Why would a Selbach have a large 'D' on the seat tube? I've looked and it seems too big to be pert of a B or R ( in Maurice Selbach)

I'm only asking this before I get it repainted as the paint work is awful and beyond my saving. Fortunately the frame is solid and I'm keen to restore as accurately as possible. One theory is that Selbach had a 'DP' model.......just an idea

Hi, this is from the 34 cat, so it could be an DP or an R, too young to help - don't say that to often !

Thanks for that. The frame was made in 1925 - Ill look up a catalogue for then if it exists. I wonder if they would have written 'DP' on the seat tube.......
