not gonna go into details but im personally going through a strange and scary time at the moment so with having some time off work...... :( thought id seize an oppotunity to ride somewhere special and before it gets really busy.

ended up going out late,1 ish set off to ladybower near sheffield.been riding here a few years and love the place :D

anyway, weather seemed fine and just in case packed my new polaris waterproof i got at the last retrobike ride at clipstone.very glad i did,no sooner had i got ready and stretched it pissed it down.......and didnt stop for around an hour  lol

had a fantastic ride, maybe shouldnt have gone oop on moors on my own but ill never learn and saw it as a challenge and it payed off, half way round the cloud broke and it brightened up :D .got some good pics but the rain eventually froze my phone :? .rode some familiar trails and some new runs that were epic!!!,doubt ill be doing them on my trek tho lol.

well, the ride cleared my head, made me realise life IS good and the future will be exciting and eventful  .i'll be back working somewhere soon,i hope and im still fairly healthy so can keep riding, ace.

sorry to bore you, heres a few pics, they dont really do ladybower the justice and praise it deserves but hope you get the "this is why" point :D :D

chris

That ride looks awesome Chris a proper epic by the looks of it.

Fantastic pics too, the weather makes the moors look threatening too bit scary when up there alone I guess.

Think you should get us all over there and guide us round.

Next ride is on Sunday morning out my way if you can make it.

Hope everything else os ok mate, see you soon

gonna try and make it buddy, deffo up for a mini peaks ride, just make sure brakes work lol :D the new route i took goes along a very steep drop that ends .......well,everything lol, views are breath taking tho

Awesome, just watched 617 squadron last week too, you can almost hear the Lancasters!

Is it just me or does 'Ladybower' sound like a euphamism from a really poor peice of erotic fiction:
"...as he slid his hand toward her ladybower..."

Great place for biking and also a great place for pondering too.

Looks like you rode many of the trails we covered on the 'Three Tribes Meet' back at the start of May this year. Fortunately it was mostly dry that day as it can get pretty bleak up on those moors.

Nice photographs - I'll have to venture over to your island and ride some of these places before I get too old  .

Riding alone is sometimes the best way anyway and I always think that there's something uniquely wonderful about moorland when the weather's like that.
Even if you think that you know the area like the back of your hand, you can still get caught out and find that you're not exactly where you thought that you were, especially if you're just following sheep tracks. I rather like it when that happens.

Great pics, reservoir looks quite low

Would love to fish Ladybower...it did have quite a good reputation of containing some very big Pike a few years back!

That just looks awesome, and made all the better by those fantastic pics 8) 8) 8) Especially the very last one  8) 8)
