had some time to clean up the bike and put some new tires, bar tape, and cables. Since then I have ridden the bike a bunch of times to work and around town and it rides extremely well. I only cleaned it up so there is still some "patina" left on the bike.
I had a lovely Japanese-made dark brown metallic Bianchi Limited from the Piaggio period (c. 1984) until about a year ago. Light and responsive, it had the same specs as yours (Suntour Cyclone etc) and was a fantastic ride. I'd have it still if it hadn't been a bit too small. Maybe not one for the purists who need Bianchi to be Italian made, but still a great bike. Yours looks to be in really nice condition - especially for a tip find!
Good point on the kick stand. Never really thought about it collapsing the stays. At least my ego is still intact lol, since I never liked kickstands and I was only going to leave this one on since the bike came with it and I'm going to use it for commuting. But I don't want to risk damage so off it goes.
