Micro cracks on mavic sprint rim. Advice please

Re:

As said I am not using the cracked one. Thats the front one. There are no cracks at all in the rear and its perfectly true so I am going to give it some slowish rides over some of Yorkshires finest potholed roads and see what happens. If it survives then I am pretty sure its down to the lousy build quality of the front wheel. I will then re build the front on to a heavier rim and all should be well. If the rear does not survive then I will probably build the hubs on to some clinchers or aero rims with some more strength in them. There is nothing wrong with the hubs they are campag record

Hi Peter,
I have a pair of old 1980s time trial wheels with 24 spokes that I'm looking to sell, was about to list them on ebay.
they are Mavic CX18 tubular rims on Campag Record hubs, complete with a Regina 6 speed block (12/17 or 13/18), not very much used to the point that the anodising has got that "marbled" effect.
The rear wheel has tied and soldered spokes.
I also have some 24 hole SABA rims, plain silver and again tubular, that are also surplus - but they need a little washer to seat the spoke nipples, and I have never had them.
If you're interested in the rims, drop me a pm.

Re:

Thank you but oddly enough I dont think I will be going 24 hole cx18 again. As I said I will ride the back one steadily to see if it holds up and the front will be rebuilt with something a bit heavier. Chances are I am only going to end up with a pair of hubs out of this but I live in hope. Until I have ridden the rear one for a bit I am not going to make any decision as to my next move so will see how it goes. Thanks again
Regards
Peter
