Magura Martas are pretty good - how did you get hold of a gold pair? I believe those were limited edition so pretty rare.

Deore shifter lets it down a bit - yer wants XT or XTR!!!

Yes to be honest they're absolutely fine, but in comparison the Formula's feel like motorcycle brakes. I bought them new from Taiwan off ebay. Because as we know, most things are built in the same factory in China or Taiwan these days (increasingly Mexico too) and you pay one price in the shop and another from the guy out the back loading the truck.

By the way, I'm looking for a chain guide (retention device), seat post mounted in titanium for this bike. Any ideas?
