Mercian Canyon project

Really wasn't keen on the Campagnolo cranks and I eventually found this Mavic 637 crank with a nice new mavic inner ring to match, outer rings are from the old crankset. But ... having issues, it would all be too easy otherwise right? The issue is that the Mavic bb doesn't give me enough clearance with the new cranks, just been reading about these bb's though, it looks like they're some potential to move the axel either side to get a better chainline, just need the right tool for the job.

Update: campag cranks back on, still waiting for the right tool to adjust mavic bottom bracket as right now the granny ring hits the stays. Also gone back to straight bars, waiting on the right stem, at the moment the one pictured does the trick tho. Great excuse to put on old Magura levers and bars that I've been saving for the occasion. LD stem gone to another forum member. Managed to squeeze in some great 6.00am rides on this, in-between work and childcare...

Finally got a stem I like, only about $12 :D Just gotta get the right adapter for it. Hopefully Mercian can paint it up the same colours as the frame...

Also got the right rings for the Mavic crankset, plus super angled back Ti bars and grab on grips. Just got to fit it all together...

Glad you've finally found one Joe. I know it's been quite the search!

Cheers Adrian, it's a 25.4 threadless but I think looks just right with the chunky Primax headset, just made an offer on a rather nice nitto adapter too.

Importantly it's the right length and rise for my old man's back!

Finished for now, finally got the stem back from Mercian, colour isn't quite the same as the orange/red of the the frame but still overall happy

Looking good mate. That stem was a real bargain!

Thanks dude, here's a close up, where you can see the colour is different. good news is I had a night time ride last night, only the second chance I've had since the birth of our daughter and it was a blast - perfect size and everything super smooth, might have to go with some spd's though - those Suntour xc compe look lovely but are slippery without toe straps
