might be old hat to you track roadie lot, but i never knew they made bikes from bamboo

now i know its a super material can resist earthquakes etc, but im not sure i could put my confidence in a mtb version

A friend of mine picked up one of these from CL to build up as a singlespeed for his girlfriend recently. I think he was inspired by what he saw at the North American Handmade Bicycle Show in Austin a couple of weeks ago. It has alloy lugs but the tubes are bamboo.

There are a couple of guys in NY who have a "build your own bamboo frame" class that sounds pretty cool.
