I have some 618 rims. Upon looking on the net it only ever says they were ceramic, however there is no indication on the rims that they are and all images I find have a ceramic sticker. Stickers can be removed. I know mavic did ceramic and non ceramic rims of particular models. So question is, how can I tell what mine are? They are semi gloss grey in colour.

618s were made in silver, CD (anodised or ceramic) and black (plain or ceramic). You should be able to tell if yours is ceramic by a slightly rougher braking surface - or also, being cycnical, if it is pockmarked or has chunks of the ceramic surface missing.

Hmm, but mine are not silver or black. Ill have a good look at braking surface. From memory there are no chips to it and I can see aluminium colour, so guess that would mean not ceramic in hindsight :-)

the "CD" Hard Anodised coating is often grey/olive in colour, and can also fade a little over time.

It could be that yours are the grey "CD" hard anodised version, without the ceramic coating, the hard anodised finish usually wears off after a couple of muddy rides anyway.
