Mavic rims - 238 vs 222?

Received an order from a trader for a set of NOS wheels - should have been 238 on LX (563 and 565), but been sent X222 on LX hubs - is there much difference, is one clearly superior to the other?

Brake surface seems to be machined on the X222s compared with the 238s (previous order was sent 238s correctly on LX hubs) - they're only going to get light off-road duties, so not too bothered about either sets being more the lightweight type of wheel that's not really up for heavy hits.

I'm just wondering whether I should get back to the seller (a company) if the X222 rims are clearly inferior or not worth the same money as the 238s were?

I think the x222 is just a newer version of the same budget rim.

x222 may be eyeletted when the 238 wasn't?

I think its a better rim, however not correct if you are going for a catalogue correct build.

Both are eyeletted (I bought 2 sets, with a small gap in between, so I have a set of the 238s and X222s). Profile of the rims seems similar, perhaps a bit deeper with the X222s. X222s seem to have a machined brake surface, whereas the 238s don't. Not bothered about catalogue spec, loose era is a plus for me. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't stiffed on them, really, 'cos I stopped keeping up with rims at 230s / 231s.

Just compared the 238s with X222s side by side. Similar weight, similar profile - perhaps a bit more squarer with the X222s both on the tyre / tube side and spoke side. Both eyeletted. As I mentioned before, the X222s have a machines braking surface, the 238s don't.

Seem very similar, unless somebody says otherwise, look just fine in comparison and for what I paid for them - not sure it's worth bothering about the 2nd set being advertised as 238s.
