I have a set of mavic 230s, 231s and 232s does anyone know what time era they may be from, I know the 231 and 232 are early - mid 90s but dont know anything about the 230. which of the 3 should i build onto my deore dx hub?

231´s were earlier than mid 90´s. I hated the Campy rims (thor?) that came stock on my 90 Attitude and after cracking that frame (bad year, huh?), on my 91 Attitude, I had two sets of 231´s built for it, so AFAIK, at least in 1991.

DX put them on the 231, even better if it's a 231CD

I have a 230 TIB , myself and nobody I knew at the time who also had them like them. We gave them the nick name tin foil as they where about as good and as strong as tin foil, but they where pretty cheap. The 231 where just better in our point of view.

As for 232 I am not familiar with them

Just my opinion

guess that's why my 230 rear was trashed in about a month, and the front is still running strong to this day!

I had a 230 on the front of my FRO (one then the other) for years after an old lady redesigned my front wheel.

Built on a Hope light by Bromley Bikes, it's still going strong (but I haven't ridden that wheel for over a year)

1994 expensive Konas came with 230 front 231 rear.
As already said 230 was more a cross country lightweight rim, not so good if you are fat or unable to avoid large objects.
