Marin Ultimate

Maroonmachine

Retro Newbie
I worked at a Marin dealership in the 90's (High Wycombe, Cycle care, UK) I was also sponsored nationally in the XC Sports Category.....the bike has been in a dark (heated) room for years and any notion of getting back out on it is long-gone. Before I make any decisions to sell I would like any view on the market, are these still desirable / going for decent money?...with the usual dependency on condition, etc....Ironically I competed on a Team Titanium, the Ultimate was the dream bike which I had the good fortune to realize.......Thank You.

I assume its a 97? And built by Sandvik?

Pictures would be a great help as condition/ spec is key to price.

As for the market.....tanked.....bargain basement time for bike sales.....probably not what you want to hear.

Now covid.......that was a different story!

The Ultimate is a desirable bike but quite niche.
If you can find examples of sold Ultimates on ebay that might be your best guide, but many bikes are hanging around for a good deal of time at the moment - especially complete bikes, there is more interest in framesets/parts as this allows many to build as they see fit.

Size, specification and condition will be key.

You could take and upload some pics for posting in here: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/forums/the-one-and-only-how-much-is-my-xyz-worth-forum.78/ if you want a valuation (though responses are few and far between!).

I recall racing alongside several riders from Cycle Care back in the early 90's, and definitely visited the shop I'm sure 👍
