Retro Newbie
Righto. New on here, tho gathering bikes for many years, just for the pleasure of fettling. I've raced mtb and road, but getting "older" now mostly enjoy fixing up and chasing and fixing up "interesting" bikes. Currently a Dawes steel town bike with drop bars. Have seen a sausalito for sale; nothing glitzy, but triple butted Tange frame. 1995. Anyone have or ridden one? Appreciate any comments you have on it? Cheers.

If its cheap <50 quid, and in ready to ride condition, just buy it.
Ive had a 94 and 95 san rafael. Both good for road and general off road.
The 700c wheels feel....lofty...but thsts the combo of narrow, straight bars and large wheels. I had no complaints though.

These bikes accept most ATB components and theres plenty of 700c tyres out there, cheap, with tread too.
Should you sell it on, they dont seem to fetch big dollar, however if you are keeping it, all is good.

Tx Marc. Atm it's at 100 but seems good order. An interesting mix of road/mtb kit. Think the San Rafael might be similar geometry/frame but better kit? Will hopefully get to ride it next few days and make a decision. Not one for a perfect restoration, rather a try out with drop bars/bar end shifters maybe light touring work. Again, appreciated your reply. Tx
