A perfect candidate for a retro-mod. Add some modern-ish components and it will be more reliable than a Timex.

Just rescued one from its way to the tip - same F27xxxx frame number, all original and with cantis and Alivio bits. Looks a very tidy frame although the condition isn't as nice as yours.

Go ahead. It's a mass-produced frame, better ridden than scrapped.
