Marin Eldridge Grade Dilemmas now has pics with drop bars!!!

Hey I have a 1993 Eldridge Grade which is mostly complete. I also have a huge amount of road bars lying around - would it be wrong to build it up with drop bars? I like the drop bars on mountain bikes but would it be completely wrong on a Marin and not a Yeti?????

What do people think of the drops?

Kev you are the king of drops - what are your thoughts?

Until I got my Explosif in '94 I lusted after my mate's Eldridge.

i just like drop bars!!

i have 3 other retro hardtails and 1 modern full suss I just want something a bit different!!!

Go For it. I have a project on the back burner of a GT with drops for commuting, bit of baiku on the way home from work and maybe trying a bit of CX.

Do it Nick! Just make sure you get some approriate drops - wide and swept out slightly. Salsa Bell Laps are great! And use those SORA triple STi's, they'll work just fine.

I like drops, but not on every bike. Marins always seemed good candidates to me because of the shortish top tube.

Try it: you can always change back.

At the rear, yes, but you might have some trouble at the front. Road STIs generally index best with road front mechs.

Might actually get to ride one of the 4 bikes i have soon - as most of them are waiting 1 or 2 parts!!!

Hopefully picking up an Indian Fire Trail from 95 tomorrow for around 45quid. Will harvest the full XT off it and dump the frame (cracked)
