Marin Eldridge Grade against the clock

Plan is to take this Marin to Norway. Tomorrow

Mrsthefish is Norwegian and it will live in a cabin built by her father. We've no car there so bikes will get us to and from the Kiwi shop (better than Spar) for beer, fish pudding (really) and other less critical supplies.

Frame is fairly scuffed up but not too bad. Prior to today I've collected bits for the build and tidied up the frame a tad but have not got round to attaching bits to other bits.

Close inspection reveals that frame has loads of scuffs and scars and has been touched up clumsily. Removal of touch up paint suggests over-application but it has limited rust pretty much to zero 8) . Wee spots of exposed frame will be covered in black Hammerirte disguised as spatter.

Found some cheap Rockstar forks on ebay. Scabby but seem sound. Rubbed down and painted in black Hammerite followed by white Hammerite then misted with black cos I don't have grey or time to try and match grey paint. Look a decent match from 10 feet. Plan is to splatter paint them in Norway over a Hansa (beer) on a sunny midge free evening (I believe in miracles, where your from etc).

Started building tonight.

Re:

Progress so far. Basic plan is black and white theme mainly with Shimano LX. As time is tight corners are being cut and it will be built with what I have for now.

Re:

Coffee time.
Mechs on. Rear is sloppy at pivots so indexing isn't great. May need to use friction if it gets annoying.

KMC chain link would not close for anything. Dammittohell. Chain riveted on. We have propulsion.

Re:

Done. Seems to work and shifts fine on friction mode. Brakes are poor but will do for now.
Looking forward to a proper ride but now need to pull it to bits again then stick it a box for airport.

Strong looking bike. Will probably outlive us all!

Look forward to photo's of it in it's new surroundings, although to be fair it looks pretty nice where you are!

Re:

Made it with the Marin to the land of fjords, strange fermented fish dishes and costly beer. Only managed a couple of short rides but it felt stable and comfy.
