Marin Bear Valley 1991, my winter project.

Hello.

A few weeks ago I bought my first Retro Bike . As I saw the offer, I made a search and found this forum and the article of stumpjumper 1990.
So I could see, that this bike was in original condition (with some extra parts). The varnish had some scratches, but that is a part of history.





After the first stripping it looked like a real bike .





Now it is in my cellar workshop. I will modify it a little bit, because I want to use it as a road bike for fitness and fun after work.
(At weekend I usually ride my customized 2005 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR.
Now the third one is a full equipped 2004 road bike with a Shimano Nexus 8 gear hub and roller brakes).

Did Marin go a bit nuts with the Bear Valley in '91? I picked up a Zolatone '91 BV yesterday and it's the polar opposite of this......dark grey zolotone paint and gloss black forks/stem and white graphics.

It's as if I've got the monotone edition!

......this is a lovely bike though, love it.

Actual Condition

Hello. After an overhaul and the first kilometers of riding I can say, that the Bear Valley is a fast, solid bike.
I made some changes to fit it for my demands.





TA chainrings 44-34-24 (pinion set now 13 - 30)


Cane Creek brakes and Schwalbe road tires

That saddle makes it look waaaaaaaaaaaay faster!
... and I bet with those tires it really is fast.

very nice. The top-shelf TA rings look a bit odd against the Exage cranks, but I'd rather have a top notch chain, chainrings, and cog for smooth precise shifting than XT/XTR arms and crappy rings.

Whats the color is it red or orange? The yellow and green are easy to spot uncertain as it looks like a bit of both from photo to photo.

Hello.
The coulors are all Neon: red, yellow and green.
Best to see in cloudy weather or dim light . In sunshine it is difficult for the camera to take the right coulors. Sorry

It was very hard. But the riding position was not the best for me . So I sold it to a very kind guy here .
