Marin B17

19.5 c to t

£200 collected from Chesterfield

It’s got lots of marks and scratches.

Both hubs are grumbly as hell. Not a bad bike but just not perfect by any means. Important bits all there and forks , brakes , coil , gears are all good.

Re:

I quite fancy a full suspension Marin from this era... but unfortunately I'm nowhere near Chesterfield!

Out of interest do you know if there was much difference between the frames of the various models?

Looks a good bike/project for someone so GLWTS.

Re:

Tbh I’ve very little knowledge of Marin. But maybe others can help with that. I’m more of a GT man.

The B17 was meant to be more of a DH focus to the rest of the range XC, so I gather the swingarm was longer to give a longer wheelbase. I can fit a 29" rear wheel in there but its a bit tight on the clearance if you run a front mech.

There are several variations on the swingarm, look for steel moving to alloy (like this one), and notice on this one the disc mount needs an adaptor, the later ones moved to standard IS tabs, worth thinking about were you a disc brake type of guy.

The front main frame are pretty much the same I think through to about 2003 but I'll hold my hands up there and say thats more assumption than actual knowledge, I have had a few and they all looked the same. my 98/99 shoreline trail, mount vision and b17 all appear the same at the front anyway.

Thanks, good info.

Re: Marin B17 full bike £200

Front end changes as much as the rear. Theres eye to eye lengths of 165 to 200m for the shock and different seat post sizes - they may all look the same but they are not!

So there.

Ner.
