I want to save a map of my area to my PC, edit it via paint or similar to show my local route, and then load it up here in my area group forum.

However, the first 3 or 4 map programs I've found via a google search wont allow me to save them.

Help please!

Hit ctrl and print screen (key in the top right and corner of your keyboard) then paste into mspaint or other image editing program. ;)

EDIT

Actually you could just use a static google map.. if you have the longitude and latitude for the centre of the location I'll make one for you.. a url that can linked into your post.

Google Earth, + Gavins unofficial OS overlay =
Tiltable and rotatable too.
Follow the Dog, Cannock chase, phase 2 Monkey Trail opens this weekend :)

I'll use that mapmyride program when I have a play again.

Got it 99% done earlier, but Internet Explorer had a 'moment' and the program shut down :x  Lost it all!

What you really need to do to get that level of detail is to use a GPS device to track the route you want to show.. drawing it manually is ok though but heh.. what do i know. ;)

Do you have GPS on your mobile? If not I hear mapmyride will work well enough to get your point across..

What's that route stewlewis? Have you just ploughed straight through fields and forrests, don't seem to follow any paths :?
