Maps - saving to PC

It's the 'follow the dog' trail at Cannock chase! The bits that plough through the forest are bits of cool singletrack. This is the problem with trying to plot routes manually. You can't see quality bits of trail like this as they are neither footpaths or bridal ways. Cannock is quality, looking forward to riding the monkey!

Don't you have to ride the trail though to plot it with GPS?
I think Pickle is trying to map it without leaving the comfy chair just to give a general idea of route.

Yup

I can dowload a GPS app to my Blackberry (cant remember its name off the top of my head) and do it that way, but I was just hoping to put a route up before the actual ride.

Modern technolodgy I tell you, I click ed the open in google I have the OS overlay AND I can zoom in and see StreetView of some of the places.
I'll feel like I've already been there

So we pick up the Viking Way (which by the way to Chris I was wrong doesn't come over to the North Bank, it stops at the south bank http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8& ... on&t=h&z=9 it was it Link to route 1 and 65 that's next to me (and we road down Route 1 or a link to it, I have really no idea looking at the map where we road  ) Trans Pennine is Route 65

I got there in the end!

Its a nice varied route, and its great being able to have that on my doorstep 8)

The plot I showed from FTD Cannock was a GPS log, no matter what mapping software or sat/aerial images you have planning FTD from the PC first would be impossible, the trails are just not visable.

When in comes to forrests, OS isn't detailed enough and Google Earth images are out of date.

Wonder how MS Live Maps are.............
