has anyone got a scan/link for stripping down manitou 4's? ive removed the elastomer stacks and there are bolts in the bottom of each leg but i dont want to take them out until i know what to expect.
cheers

dont worry, done it now :) they are in really good condition too which is a bonus :) what hardness are red elastomers?

out of interest stew-b what happens when you undo the small screw under the drop outs, ive cleaned my pair down but didnt undo them as like you didnt know what it would do?

you need to remove the circlips that are holding in the leg seals behind the brace then if you remove the lower bolts you can pull the whole lot apart.

My first post!

I have just taken my M4s off my old frame, these forks are a work of art! I have the box and manual somewhere, I can scan it in if there's demand (it's quite long).
I bought them in 1995 from new, they came with some spare Yellow (hard), Blue (soft) and red (medium) elastomers. There is also a bottom out elastomer accessed after taking the circlip and the small screw from the bottom of the legs out.
I have searched and searched for new elastomers...anyone? Answer/Manitou were bang on it with the quality of these things, and home servicing too? what happened!

Id be interested i having a copy of the destructions please, theres a chap called slim who appears on the forum every now and then who can get replacement elastomers, message him fella

I will dig it out and pdf it or something...may take a few weeks to actually get around to doing it though!
