OK chaps - I might need some bright ideas here...
So far - replacement elastomers arrived, forks disassembled, old elastomers rock hard and not superglue (result), everything removed, cleaned and degreased, new elastomer stack added, inner legs pushed back inside outer legs, compress legs and do up long allen bolts.
Except I can't do one of them up. The first one I managed by grunting a lot and pushing down on forks as hard as I could. The second it doesn't matter how hard I push I can't get the bolt to bite. I've even gone as far as putting my boot on the top of the other leg and putting my whole weight on the fork to compress it. I can't get it to compress that much, and I'm only using medium elastomers...
Anyone have any bright ideas (other than "call a fatter friend to stand on them while you do them up")???
It was all going so well too...!
