Magura Tomacs

I recently purchased a bike locally with a Tomac/ Magura set of brakes.

After cleaning them up I have confirmed there are no cables inside these fellas so my expertise stops here.
The rear hose needs to be a little longer + these bad boys need a bleed.

Do modern Bike shops have the knowledge/ experience to work on something this old?

Possibly, but they're remarkably easy to work on yourself (and brilliant brakes).

have a google and go for it - parts are cheap, and easy to get (in the UK at least?)

Bleeding is pretty simple, best done with the brakes off the bike as you can hang them vertically - the bubbles will rise.
Fill at the bottom with the bleed hose at the top. I find a plastic ketchup bottle taped to the top is a great catcher for the excess fluid.

Hydraulics are pretty easy tbh - the principles are the same no matter what brake it is, so any decent bike shop should be able to sort them for you. But as the guys above have said, it's not that difficult to do yourself. It's probably better to do a complete fluid change - drain it all out and give the reservoir a clean-out, flush the calipers thru with fresh fluid and then refill it. After that its just a matter of expelling the air from the top.

Well in my recent post over my LBS I have found some think they are obsolete despite the fact that they still manufacture them. I would say with my recent experience it depends on the age of the guy in the shop and if they have ever seen them.

And if they HS33 Tomacs then CRC has the cheapest pads as i recently found, i posted a link upto them in the deals section other day i just got a bunch again not sure if they ship you would again have to query that with them
