Magura cables and cable ties...

Any alternative? Wanting to try some retro H11s but going to hate the black nylons on a 96 Zaskar top tube. Thanks for any ideas!

This what I use for my HS33.

Evans have a kit, think I got mine off ebay.

Re:

There's also a magura sleeve/heat shrink thing that you fit between the cable stops via a length of brake cable (all part of the kit).

Sounds odd, but the sleeve fits to the cable, and you simply feed the brake hose through it.

Or you could just cable tie the hose to a gear cable.

^^^ I have this, it's neat.

You can try and find a NOS magura one, or use a gear cable (or road brake cable) a solderless nipple and a lenngth of heatshrink; that's really all the kit is.

The only downside is you have to disconnect thr hose and thread it through, but IMO, it's worth it.

Re:

You've got a few options, the kind of kit that Gerard mentioned, SJS Cycles also do the cable clamps here... https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brakes/bbb- ... ne-guides/
You could just use the M-part stick on hose guides.
Use cable ties, you can get a variety of colours, maybe put a bit of clear helitape on the frame to prevent any rubbing.
Drill out the cable stops so you can route the hose normally (I did this on my Orange).

My '98 Zaskar is running a disc rear, but the routing will be similar...

Thanks guys. Definately a few good solutions here.

Another advice I want to ask is do you need to deflate the tyres each time you want to remove the wheel with the old HS11s? It will rule me out installing them as I transport the bike with front wheels off.

Re:

Probably.
But then there's the Magura quick release thingys for that. :D

If you ask I'm sure someone has spares for postage costs.

Getting the wheel out with the Magura QR it's only slightly more involved than a canti set up but certainly not any more than a few seconds longer.

I also added an Evo II bracket on my set (carbon Endorphin) to help prevent the rear legs busting outwards when braking hard...
