Mafac Centre Pull Straddles

Hello,

Can anyone suggest a good replacement for mafac centre pull
brake straddle cables? The ones I have are a bit frayed at the ends.

I did think of using derailleur cables, which look quite similar, but
I have the impression this is a Very Bad Idea - derailleur cables are
presumably not strong enough.

I'm using derailleur cables for straddle cables on my MAFAC Racers as the genuine articles are as rare as rocking horse poo.

(I seem to remember trying to make some from MTB brake cables but the cables were too thick or there was some other issue - call it middle age, but I can't remember exactly).

Up to know they've been working ok. (Don't come running to me if yours break though !!!!)
